Waxing is a semi-permanent hair-removal method that can be performed every 4-5 weeks. The more you wax, the more your hair regrowth should be reduced. Wax is spread across the skin in the area, where you’d like hair removed. When the wax is removed, the hair comes with it, leaving your skin smooth and hairfree.
Many people prefer waxing to shaving, because your skin will remain hairfree for longer. It frees you from the hassle of shaving off unwanted hair every few days and is particularly useful when you’re on holiday. This is because you won’t need to worry about taking shaving equipment with you, or worrying about getting a shaving rash when more of your body is likely to be on display.
- Semi-permanent hair removal
- Unlike shaving, no rashes or cuts
- Finer, thinner hair regrowth
- Fast and convenient
- Pulls the hairs from the roots
Waxing removes the hair from the root, but as hair grows in cycles, you will need several sessions to be fully rid of your unwanted hair. Each session will strip you of unwanted hair that is in its active phase. You’ll need to wait for dormant hairs to enter the active phase in order to remove them too.
In order to help you prepare for your wax, we’ll ask you to please ensure your hair is long enough to be waxed. Your skin needs to be clean, but having a hot bath or shower immediately before your treatment can reduce the effectiveness of your waxing session.
You could exfoliate the skin beforehand to encourage hair growth. We understand there’s a huge temptation to shave or cut your hair, but in order for a waxing treatment to be effective your hair needs to be at least as long as a grain of rice.
you come in for your waxing appointment, we’ll invite you lie down so we can cleanse your skin. Wax will then be applied and left to harden. Once it has set, it will be removed, taking the hair with it. If you’re taking any medications, please make sure you tell the Skin Life Aesthetics practitioner before the session starts. We just want to ensure your medication is compatible with the treatment.
