IPL Photo Rejuvenation

Improve your skin tone

Correct pigmentation issues and reduce scarring

IPL photo rejuvenation is a laser treatment which uses intense pulsed light to penetrate deep layers of the epidermis. The result is smoother, revitalised skin, which looks younger and is free from blemishes.

This treatment not only effectively combats signs of ageing to provide a significant rejuvenation, but can also reduce and even remove sun damage and pigment issues to produce a clearer, healthier skin tone.

An effective treatment to gain flawless skin

The laser light is absorbed by pigment particles in melanin in the skin and in your blood. These coloured, light-absorbing particles then come to the surface of the skin and are expelled naturally, leaving a more even colour in their wake.

Because this action also tricks the body into thinking it has sustained a wound that needs repairing, the body’s natural wound-response unit is triggered. This means that collagen and elastin levels are raised to deal with the problem. A natural result of this is firmer, more youthfully toned skin. This is why IPL treatment can clear up both pigment problems and signs of ageing.

Frequently Asked Questions

about IPL Photo Rejuvenation

  1. What skin conditions can be improved by IPL?

IPL can improve the appearance of sun damaged skin, rosacea, hyperpigmentation, freckles and the signs of ageing.

  2. Is IPL treatment suitable for everyone?

Pregnant women are advised not to undergo IPL treatment and although there are no such medical restrictions on customers with darker skin, you should be aware that due to the way in which IPL is absorbed by melanin, darker skin can suffer from pigmentation issues as a direct result of this treatment. Your Skin Life Aesthetics practitioner will be able to perform a patch test to see how your skin will react.

  3. How will I look following IPL treatment?

You should find you have a more even skin tone. Blotchiness caused by rosacea or pigment problems should be reduced, as should sun spots and freckles. Fine lines and wrinkles should be smoothed over, helping you to potentially look younger than your years.

  4. How many sessions of IPL will I need?

The number of sessions recommended to you will depend on the severity or depth of the skin complaint you’re addressing. On average, 3-5 treatments are advised.

  5. Is it painful?

Many customers have likened the sensation of having IPL treatment to having a rubber band snapped against your skin. It’s not exactly comfortable, but it’s not painful either.

  6. What happens during your IPL appointment?

You will be asked to put on protective eyewear to ensure your eyes don’t get damaged by the bright light. The laser light will then pulse and you’ll feel a twanging sensation. The cooling tip of the device will ensure your skin doesn’t get too warm. The session can last from just a few minutes up to an hour, depending on the size of the target area.
