What it is

Lemon Bottle is an injectable solution made in South Korea. Its maker lists riboflavin (vitamin B2), bromelain, which is an enzyme from pineapple, and lecithin among its ingredients. It is injected into the layer of fat beneath the skin.

It is a different product from Aqualyx, which is based on deoxycholic acid and has been in use for longer. There is less published research on Lemon Bottle, and we go through what is and is not known at your consultation. Which of the two is suitable for you is decided then.

Your appointment

Consultation

We look at your skin, go through your medical history and explain the likely result, the risks and the alternatives. You can take time to decide.

Treatment

The area is marked and cleaned. The solution is injected at several points across the area with a fine needle.

Afterwards

Swelling, redness and tenderness can follow and usually settle over the following days. If you are having a course, we book your next session.

Who treats you

Injectable treatments at Skin Life are carried out only by appropriately trained and insured practitioners, after a face-to-face consultation.

Side effects and risks

Expected: swelling, redness, tenderness and bruising in the area.

Less common: lumps or an uneven result, infection, or an allergic reaction. Your practitioner explains these before you agree to treatment. Contact the clinic if anything worries you afterwards.

Afterwards

  • Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas and hot baths for a few days.
  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing over the area while it is swollen.

Questions

How is Lemon Bottle different from Aqualyx?

They are different products. Aqualyx is based on deoxycholic acid and has been in use for longer. Lemon Bottle’s maker lists riboflavin, bromelain and lecithin. We explain both at your consultation.

How many sessions will I need?

It is usually taken as a course. The number of sessions and the gap between them are planned at your consultation.

Is it a way to lose weight?

No. It is aimed at small, localised areas and does not replace diet and exercise.

Does it hurt?

The injections can sting, and the area can be tender and swollen afterwards.
