Who it suits

Who it is not suitable for
- Anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding
- Anyone under 18
- Anyone with sunburn, cold sores, broken skin or a skin infection on the face
- Recently tanned skin
- If you have taken isotretinoin in the last six months, or use prescription skincare such as tretinoin, please tell us at your consultation

Which peel?
We offer three peels, which work in different ways. We recommend one after looking at your skin.

Little or no visible peeling
A trichloroacetic acid solution that is massaged into the skin. Most people have little or no visible peeling afterwards.

A two-phase peel
A trichloroacetic acid peel combined with amino acids and vitamins. It can be combined with microneedling.

The Perfect Peel Superblend
A deeper, blended peel
A blend of acids applied in the clinic and left on for several hours. The skin peels over about a week.

Your appointment
Consultation
We look at your skin, go through your medical history and skincare, and recommend a peel.
Treatment
The skin is cleansed and the peel solution is applied. You may feel warmth or tingling for a few minutes.
Afterwards
We explain how to look after your skin. Depending on the peel, it may flake or peel over the following days.
Who treats you
Peels are carried out by trained practitioners, after a consultation.
Side effects and risks
Common: redness, tightness, dryness and flaking or peeling, lasting from a day to about a week depending on the peel.
Less common: blistering, infection, a cold sore flare-up, or lighter or darker patches of skin. Changes in skin colour are more likely on darker skin tones and after sun exposure.
Looking after your skin
- Do not pick or pull at peeling skin.
- Avoid sun exposure and use SPF 30 or higher every day for at least four weeks.
- Leave retinol and exfoliating acids out of your routine until we advise.
- Avoid saunas, swimming and strenuous exercise for 48 hours.
Questions
Does a peel hurt?
Most people feel warmth, tingling or stinging for a few minutes while the solution is on.
Will my skin peel?
It depends on the peel. Some cause little or no visible peeling; others cause several days of flaking.
How many peels will I need?
Some people have a single peel and others a course. We agree a plan at your consultation.
Can I have a peel in summer?
Yes, if you can keep your skin out of the sun and wear a high-factor sunscreen every day.
