Who it suits
LED light therapy is usually taken as a course, or added to another treatment. People book it for:
- Skin that looks dull or tired
- Redness after other treatments
- Blemish-prone skin
Who it is not suitable for
- Anyone with epilepsy or seizures triggered by light
- Anyone taking medicines that make skin sensitive to light
- Anyone under 18
- If you are pregnant, please tell us before booking
We go through your medical history at your consultation and will tell you if another treatment, or no treatment, is the better choice.
How it works
The Dermalux Tri-Wave MD shines three wavelengths of LED light on the skin: blue, red and near-infrared. They can be used singly or together.
Blue light is usually chosen for blemish-prone skin, and red and near-infrared light for skin that looks dull or tired. We choose the combination for your skin.

The light is not hot and contains no ultraviolet, so it does not tan or burn the skin. You lie under the light panel wearing eye protection.

Dermalux was named Best Light Therapy in the Tatler Beauty Awards 2026, and the Tri-Wave MD won Gold for Best Photodynamic Therapy Device at the Medical Beauty Awards 2026.

Dermalux, the maker, reports these results after a course of eight Tri-Wave MD sessions:
- 70% improvement in skin hydration
- 65% reduction in skin redness
- 67% improvement in skin dryness
- 61% improvement in skin radiance
- 59% reduction in inflammatory acne lesions
- 56% improvement in skin quality
Results vary from person to person. For the evidence behind these figures, please contact Dermalux.

- Use SPF 30 or higher every day.
Questions
Does it hurt?
No. The light is bright but not hot, and most people find the session relaxing.
How many sessions will I need?
LED works gradually, so it is usually taken as a course. We will suggest a plan for your skin.
Is it safe for my eyes?
You wear goggles for the whole session.
Can it be added to other treatments?
Yes. It is often added to the end of a facial, a peel or microneedling.
